What is Tae-Bo?

 
Total Awareness Excellent Body Obedience or Tae-Bo is an aerobic and cardio workout that combines martial arts, kickboxing and dance rhythms. It is focused on the mind and body, so it has both physical and mental benefits.
Tae-Bo is quite versatile as it provides an intense workout for the mind and body and ingrains you with self-confidence. 

How is Tae-Bo performed?

 
Tae-Bo is a fun and active sport that has beginners, intermediate and advanced programs. It is not an easy workout for beginners, especially for persons who have never done any type of aerobic exercise. If you have no stamina, it is better not to venture there and find something less strenuous for you.
A Tae-Bo workout starts out at a rapid pace that is sustained throughout the session for around an hour or a bit less. It mixes leg kicks and punches continuously working all your muscles, adding stretching movements for relaxation at the start and end of a session. Movements are executed with alertness and force.
A Tae-Bo session has no breaks, but if you feel exerted, you can take one for a few seconds. Overt time, your stamina will build and you will be able to sustain the whole program without pausing. 

What are the benefits of Tae-Bo?

 
Tae-Bo is an aerobic and cardio workout that utilizes all your muscles and has therefore a number of benefits, including:

  • Burning calories, between 500 to 800 within an hour workout session
  • Toning, defining and strengthening muscles
  • Strengthening bones
  • Improving balance, flexibility and coordination
  • Improving blood circulation and blood pressure
  • Enhancing stamina
  • Improving self-confidence
  • Sharpening perception and overall improved mental state

 

What are indications for Tae-Bo?

 

You have to be really fit and have great stamina for a Tae-Bo workout, even as a beginner, and always:
 

  • Make sure you don’t overextend or lock your joints when kicking or punching as this can result in injury.
  • Expect some aches and pains in all your muscles for the first two weeks as the workout places more strain on your body than regular aerobics.
  • Never start out too hard or too fast.
  • Tae-Bo is not for you if you are pregnant or have just delivered, had recent surgery, have muscular or joint weaknesses or injury and if you have any kind of cardiovascular condition.
  • It is better to avoid a session if you have any kind of mild illness such as a cold.
